This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Training & Competency Advisor to work within an established offshore and onshore Gas operation, based in Barrow-in-Furness. The Training & Competency Advisor will provide training, competence and assurance support across operated assets, ensuring that training and competence arrangements meet UK legislation, regulatory requirements and company standards. This Training & Competency Advisor role is based in Barrow-in-Furness and will support both offshore and onshore Gas assets, with regular offshore travel required. QUALIFICATIONS & CERTIFICATION NEEDED • Higher education qualification, with further education certification preferred • Relevant experience in Training & Competency / Training Management • Offshore BOSIET • Valid Offshore Medical ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE FOR THE TRAINING & COMPETENCY ADVISOR • Several years' experience in training management • Experience within Oil & Gas, GAS, offshore energy or a similar regulated industry • Experience with training and competence management systems • Experience managing competence assurance frameworks • Strong understanding of legislative requirements relating to training and competence • Knowledge of safety case requirements and regulatory requirements • Experience developing or maintaining competence criteria and assessment programmes • Production Operations background • Offshore asset experience • Strong planning and organisational skills • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills • Strong facilitation and influencing skills • Ability to work effectively with operational and technical teams • Willingness and ability to travel offshore regularly ABOUT THE TRAINING & COMPETENCY ADVISOR ROLE As Training & Competency Advisor, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining training and competence frameworks across the business. You will provide expert advice on training requirements, competence assurance, assessment programmes and training systems across Gas operations. The Training & Competency Advisor will work closely with operational teams, HSE, HR and other key stakeholders to ensure robust training and competence arrangements are maintained across the assets. Key responsibilities of the Training & Competency Advisor include: • Manage training frameworks across operated offshore and onshore GAS assets • Manage competence assurance frameworks and competence assurance registers • Maintain training and competence profiles within the Training & Competence Management System • Prepare and issue training, competence and assurance reports • Develop and maintain assessment programmes for safety-critical, operational-critical and technical roles • Support assessment and verification activities across offshore and onshore GAS assets • Ensure robust governance and assurance of training and competence practices • Develop and maintain training and competence standards, systems, processes and procedures • Ensure training and competence arrangements comply with UK legislation and GAS industry requirements • Communicate and embed new training and competence standards across the organisation • Maintain accurate training and competence records and management information • Develop KPIs relating to competence assurance across GAS assets • Establish and maintain assessment programmes for Emergency Management and Emergency Response Teams • Develop and oversee annual training and competence assurance programmes • Manage third-party training booking services and act as contract owner • Provide advice and authorisation regarding mandatory training requirements • Support the transition of apprentices into competency and assessment frameworks • Support the development of site, business and portfolio competence assurance plans • Provide support during audits and inspections involving training and competence • Prepare training budget information and monitor expenditure • Provide support for Learning and Competence Management Systems • Maintain training and assessment records for contracting personnel • Support competence requirements for emergency response roles across offshore GAS operations TRAINING & COMPETENCY ADVISOR – BARROW-IN-FURNESS This Training & Competency Advisor position is based in Barrow-in-Furness and is particularly suited to candidates with experience within the upstream Oil & Gas, GAS, offshore energy or production operations sectors. The successful Training & Competency Advisor will have experience working with training management systems, competence assurance frameworks and operational training requirements. Experience within offshore GAS operations is highly desirable, with the ability and willingness to travel offshore regularly.
