The Field Service Engineer will provide comprehensive electro-mechanical service and technical support for the DTL product range. This includes assembly support, inspection and testing, site service, commissioning, fault-finding, and troubleshooting of industrial dampers and associated control systems.
The role involves working at client sites across the UK, overseas, and offshore environments, supporting both new installations and aftermarket service activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide product support at client installations, including site meetings, expediting, inspection and testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, site supervision, and hands-on manual site work in the UK, overseas, and offshore.
- Review and acknowledge contract and product specifications, ensuring all work carried out on DTL products is fully compliant with contractual, technical, and quality requirements.
- Assist with the final build of new products at DTL manufacturing facilities and approved sub-contract manufacturers, including:
- Electro-mechanical assembly
- Installation and preparation of electrical cabling
- Set-up, inspection, and functional testing
- Support the assessment of service and aftermarket opportunities to contribute to quotations and help generate additional business.
- Assess, investigate, and action warranty claims as required.
- Liaise effectively with internal departments, clients, and suppliers to ensure projects are designed, manufactured, and delivered to the required standards, specifications, schedules, and contractual obligations.
- Produce clear, accurate written service reports, including photographic evidence, to document work carried out and maintain detailed service histories for individual products.
- Assist in the maintenance and updating of service records, databases, and documentation systems.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to support the business.
- Participate in training and development activities as required to maintain and enhance technical competence.
- Fully support management and Directors in the ongoing development and successful operation of the business.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Strong electro-mechanical service and support experience
- Good working knowledge of pneumatic actuators and control systems, including positioners
- Practical understanding of limit switches, linkage and lever mechanisms, and bearing assemblies
- Ability to work independently on-site and represent the company professionally with clients
- Willingness to travel extensively, including overseas and offshore work
Desirable:
- Previous experience working on industrial dampers
- Experience in commissioning and troubleshooting complex mechanical systems
- Familiarity with industrial environments such as power generation, oil & gas, or heavy process industries
