The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance & Systems Technical Authority to provide technical governance, assurance, and leadership across maintenance strategies, maintenance management systems, and asset care standards at the Barrow-in-Furness Gas Terminal.
This is a key leadership role supporting safe, reliable, and compliant operations within a major UK energy asset.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the Technical Authority for maintenance and maintenance management systems.
- Provide technical governance, guidance, and assurance across operating assets.
- Ensure compliance with UK HSE regulations, COMAH, Safety Case, SEMS, and industry standards.
- Oversee maintenance strategies for safety-critical equipment and asset integrity.
- Approve technical deviations, non-conformances, and maintenance-related dispensations.
- Lead maintenance system improvements, upgrades, and data quality initiatives.
- Support failure investigations and act as a Lead Investigator using Kelvin Top Set methodologies.
- Contribute to audits, regulatory inspections, competence development, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in an Engineering or Technology discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (or equivalent professional status).
- Extensive maintenance engineering experience within onshore or offshore oil & gas operations.
- Previous experience as a Technical Authority or Senior Discipline Engineer.
- Strong knowledge of reliability engineering, maintenance strategies, barrier management, and maintenance management systems.
- Ability to make sound, risk-based technical decisions in a high-hazard environment.
- Experience with incident investigation techniques such as Kelvin Top Set is desirable.
