Duration: 12 months contract

Location: Groby, Leicester, UK

Full time onsite for training, after finalised training hybrid (3 days in the office)

Rate: 17.31/hour on PAYE

1st interview via teams, 2nd stage interview onsite

Shift: 8am - 4pm, flexibility available (37.5 hours/week)

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates and acts upon the MRP requirements and generates and adjusts purchase orders to support MRP demand levels.
  • Effectively communicates areas of concern to appropriate departments, individuals and/or Suppliers.
  • Inputs, maintains, and adjusts records or transactions to ensure system validity.
  • Handles quotes, places POs and follows up with Suppliers while managing PO-related issues and schedule changes.
  • Effectively communicates forecast requirements to external Suppliers, while maintaining strong supplier relationships and keeping ERP systems updated.
  • Objectively measures and communicates Supplier performance to support Supply Chain continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Interfaces with Suppliers, Quality, Strategic Sourcing, and Engineering to quickly resolve quality, delivery or cost issues.
  • Drives increased inventory turns, reduced cycle times, and improved Customer OTD by developing, implementing and managing pull-based material replenishment processes, including Vendor managed inventory and Supplier consignment stock.
  • Provides effective support to new product introduction teams, proposal development and subcontracting opportunities as they develop.
  • Ensures quick resolution of shipping discrepancies, receiving errors, invoice errors, adjustments to ship dates or quantities on open purchase orders as necessary.
  • Works to eliminate excess and obsolete parts and rationalise similar parts.
  • Participates in Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen events that will eliminate waste and result in significant benefits throughout the Supply Chain and wider business.
  • Engenders a spirit of cooperation throughout the supply chain to ensure responsiveness to the customer.
  • Expedites/de-expedites materials when appropriate to effectively control inventory levels and demand requirements.

Essential:

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving/decision making skills; ability to make timely, effective, fact-based decisions.
  • Engineering or manufacturing background, electronic field is desirable.
  • Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft office suite software (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, MS project, etc.).
  • Demonstrate experience in Buying/Sourcing.
  • Be able to lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact.
  • Undergraduate degree in business or technical field.
  • Supply chain or CIPS certifications are highly desirable.

Desirable attributes:

  • Basic understanding of procurement and supply chain processes.
  • Exposure to supplier communication and purchase order management.
  • Knowledge of inventory control concepts (e.g. safety stock, replenishment, VMI advantageous).
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Willingness to learn and develop within procurement/supply chain.

Tools/Software:

  • ERP System (ideally SAP) and MS Office.

Required:

  • Relevant experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain operations is essential.
  • Previous experience in a Buyer or similar operational procurement role is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and managing purchase orders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not essential).
