What will my core responsibilities be?

Support and help with The University of the West England (UWE) maintenance team, you will be responsible for the completion of both pre-planned and reactive remedial repairs and maintenance, to the internal and external fabric of a wide variety of assets.

• Play a key role in planning and completing a range of works associated with ground works and bricklaying across the whole UWE estate which will include accommodation, academic, catering and plant room facilities.




• Use your own initiative to solve problems which will involve sourcing parts & materials and seeking manufacturer technical support.




• Carry out all works within agreed timescales and to the highest standards, ensuring that you comply with current regulations and contract specifications.




• Report and record procedures, including operation and maintenance logs and control measures to minimise risks.




• Utilise PDAs or electronic devices to complete works.




• Liaise closely with our Helpdesk to ensure efficient response to all works either working on your own or as part of a team.




• Observe the highest levels of health and safety at all times, including carrying out point of work risk assessments for every task to ensure the best possible working practices are adhered to.

What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role?

• Demonstrable experience in a General labouring role.




• Good communication skills, able to get on with a variety of stakeholders.




• Good planning and organisational skills to keep on top of priorities




• An adaptable team worker keen to get involved and support others

• IT Skills – in the use of PDA's




• Asbestos awareness training (UKATA)
