What will be my core responsibilities?
As our Senior Business Development Manager, you will play a criticalrole in securing high-value, multi-year Facilities Management Contracts. This will require you to navigate long, complex, tender-led cycles and positioning the company to win major public frameworks, public-private partnerships, and corporate outsourced agreements. This role is responsible for driving the full business development life cycle—from early stage pipeline building and strategic networking to commercial negotiation and successful contract mobilization
- Proactively identify and qualify high-value opportunities (£500k+ to multi-million pound contracts) across target sectors e.g. commercial, retail, hospitality, housing, education, healthcare and leisure.
- Research and track opportunities through various industry and business forums, portals, and bodies to ensure we are aware and able to compete at the appropriate time.
- Build and maintain senior-level, trusted relationships with Tier 1 and Tier 2 main contractors, property asset managers, local authorities, and corporate procurement teams.
- Identify and secure places on crucial regional and national public procurement frameworks, managing long-term relationships before and after tender submission
- Collaborate closely with internal estimating, commercial, and bid writing teams to develop highly competitive, client-focused technical and financial proposals.
- Lead high-stakes commercial negotiations, ensuring contract terms align with gross margin targets, risk mitigation parameters, and profitable long-term delivery.
- Ensure a seamless and structured transition of secured projects from the business development phase over to the operational and project management teams leadership and direction and opportunities for professional development.
What do I need to be successful in this role?
- Proven business development success in securing multi million pound contracts specifically within the construction contracting, building services (M&E), or hard/soft facilities management sectors.
- Tangible evidence of personally identifying, pursuing, and securing complex multi-site commercial contracts or framework agreements.
- Deep understanding of integrated Facilities Management (IFM) structures, lifecycle services, and public sector procurement rules.
- An active, pre-existing network of contacts among commercial developers, main contractors, estate managing agents, or procurement executives.
- Highly adept and able to assess project margins, labour costs, compliance requirements and supply chain risks.
- Knowledgeable in Social Value reporting and how to deliver your commitment to making positive change.
- Exceptional communicator with a natural ability to deliver compelling presentations and pitches to executive and board-level stakeholders.
