Lance Lane Medical Centre is looking to recruit a part-time Receptionist to join our friendly and established team. Hours will be 16-20 hours a week, and we are looking for a candidate to work Wednesdays, Thursday afternoons, and Friday afternoons. The candidate must be flexible with their start and finishing times and days.
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, driven, a team player with fantastic customer service skills who is willing to learn and likes to make a difference. The candidate must be a quick learner, adaptable to a busy environment, and take a flexible approach to work patterns.
The role will be mainly patient-facing with duties including:
- Greeting and booking patients in at reception
- Booking and cancelling appointments
- Answering incoming telephone calls and ensuring calls are documented and directed where appropriate
- Ensuring correspondence is filed electronically in correct patient records
- Assisting with daily administration duties such as filing, picking up emails, scanning, dealing with queries, and processing prescriptions
- Undertaking administration tasks as allocated on the rota organised by the Manager
About us: Lance Lane Medical Centre is a well-established GP practice in Wavertree, South Liverpool, with approximately 6,500 patients. We are a friendly, forward-thinking, and hardworking practice. We work together as a team to provide an excellent high-quality service to our patients, which is organised and consistent. We are family-orientated and have a personalised approach to our patients. We strive to maintain a supportive team environment for our clinical and non-clinical staff members.
Our current team consists of GP Partner, Practice Manager, 5 Salaried GPs, 1 ANP, 2 Practice Nurses, 1 HCA, Secretary, and Reception/Care Navigator team. Lance Lane Medical Centre is part of CWN PCN (Childwall and Wavertree Network) with additional support received from Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Health and Well-being Coaches, Physician Associates, Social Prescribers, First Contact Physiotherapists, and Mental Health practitioners. Lance Lane Medical Centre was awarded Practice Team of the Year 2023 by the Royal College of General Practitioners for Mersey faculty. We are CQC rated Good (2022).
Job responsibilities include:
- Receiving patients and consulting with members of the practice team
- Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patients/representatives and checking names and addresses
- Covering all reception positions as necessary
- Processing appointment requests for today/future appointments from patients by telephone and in person
- Dealing with visits/requests
- Receiving telephone calls and forwarding calls to the correct destination when necessary
- Taking messages
- Assisting and directing patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient, and effective way
- Providing general assistance to the practice team and projecting a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors
- Having a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures
- Working in accordance with written protocols
- Pulling/filing notes for summarising and updating as necessary
- Filing/Scanning post in medical records
- Faxing and photocopying as requested
- Completing/filing electronic documents through workflow
- Completing tasks related to registrations of new patients and changes of address
- Processing repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines
