Overview

Sport Lancaster has recently undergone an exciting phase of change and development which has opened a wide range of opportunities within an emerging and evolving environment. The University has made significant investment in Sport Lancaster over recent years, including the new 8‑court badminton sports hall completed in June 2020 and a purpose‑built Sports Centre, which hosts an 8.5m climbing wall, multi‑function sports halls, a swimming pool, sauna & steam room, a 100‑station Technogym Fitness Suite, squash courts, and impressive outdoor facilities such as rugby pitches, 3G surfaces, and tennis courts. The Sports Centre is open to students, staff and local community members, and hosts several national events throughout the year.

Responsibilities

The Swimming Teacher will be confident to work independently to develop, deliver, market and evolve the range of swimming lessons available. The successful candidate will be suitably qualified and have experience working with a wide internal and external audience of mixed age, experience and ability within the sport and leisure industry. The position requires four hours per week on Saturday mornings from 9 am to 1 pm, teaching various stages in our Learn‑to‑Swim programme.

Qualifications

  • Qualifications to include: ASA Level 2 Teachers Certificate.
  • Desirable qualifications include Current RLSS UK National Pool Lifeguard Qualification or National Rescue Award for Swimming Teacher and Coaches (training will be provided).
