We have a job share vacancy for a Security Officer within the Security Operations team which is part of the Facilities Division. The post is offered on a part-time basis working an average of 21 hours per week. These hours will be made up of 12-hour night shifts (6.00pm to 6.00am).
The successful applicant will work as part of a three-person security team that, along with three other security teams, provide a 24/7 security provision for Lancaster University Bailrigg Campus and other satellite sites on a rotational basis. You will be required to work weekends, Bank Holidays and University Closure periods if rostered to do so.
The emphasis of the role is to ensure a safe and secure environment for students, staff and visitors at all times. You will be a committed, friendly and customer-focused individual. You will be comfortable in dealing with potentially confrontational situations and have a working knowledge of health and safety. You should be confident when using your initiative whilst at the same time being a strong team player. Flexibility, integrity and the ability to think on your feet are essential requirements of this demanding post in a culturally diverse campus.
You should be educated to GCSE level in Maths and English, reliable with an excellent attendance record and be committed to high standards. You should also have a willingness to undergo development training. It is essential that you hold a full driving licence that is valid in the UK.
