Job Description
The School of Arts offers a rich and strong range of arts disciplines, including Architecture, Creative Writing, Design, English Literature, Fine Art, Media and Film, and Theatre. These areas are underpinned by a commitment to academic excellence, innovative teaching and impactful research.
The School of Arts is ambitious and creative and engages strongly with local partners, particularly in Morecambe Bay and throughout the northwest of England. We build on capacities to attract participation from academics and industry partners for significant events and projects. We are excited to play a role in defining the roles of arts in public life and discourse.
We are seeking a Technician to Support the operation of the School of Arts workshops, including the training and supervision of staff and students. This role will primarily support the Art programme, but also provide support to other programmes and areas of shared responsibility.
This is a career development role spanning grades 5 and 6 of the University pay scale. You are expected to complete a program of training and development so that the full duties and responsibilities of the role can be fulfilled. Where relevant, the level of responsibility expected at the higher grade are indicated.
We are seeking candidates with Practical knowledge and/or relevant industry qualification of wood, paint and sculpting materials to support teaching and research activity, excellent communication skills and experience supporting technical resources.
The role is primarily based on the Lancaster University Bailrigg campus.
