Overview
Research Assistant/Senior Research Assistant/Research Fellow in condensed-matter atomic clocks – 0626-25 at Lancaster University. The project develops a condensed-matter atomic clock using spin resonance in nitrogen endofullerene molecules, with funding from Innovate UK in partnership with Teleplan Forsberg Ltd and LocatorX, Inc. The aim is to advance the technology readiness level from TRL4 to TRL5 and to miniaturise the physics package, incorporating new techniques to stabilise and track the transition frequency under environmental perturbations.

Responsibilities
- Develop and advance the condensed-matter atomic clock technology, focusing on spin resonance and electronic measurements.
- Collaborate with Lancaster University, Teleplan Forsberg Ltd, LocatorX, Inc. and Innovate UK to deliver a robust and miniaturised device.
- Work on stabilising and tracking the clock transition frequency under magnetic field and temperature perturbations.
- Contribute to experiments exploiting spin resonance in nitrogen endofullerene molecules and related quantum coherence concepts.
- Assist in moving the technology from TRL4 to TRL5 and contribute to the integration of the system into a tabletop clock environment.
- Engage with the research group within the Quantum Technology Centre and manage experimental procedures and data analysis.
- Present findings and participate in dissemination activities as required by industrial collaborators.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experimental physicist with knowledge of spin resonance and electronic measurements.
- Ability to apply fundamental physical principles to the development of new technology.
- Strong aptitude for experimental design, data analysis, and problem-solving in a laboratory setting.
- Interest in translating research outcomes into a practical, technology-ready device.
