The role involves delivery of essential animal husbandry and welfare duties, which must be provided on a daily basis throughout the year. You will be expected to work some weekends and University closure days as part of the out of hours PSU rota team supporting animal welfare.
Working with the PSU Technical Team, you will have a genuine interest in furthering the welfare of laboratory animals and will provide reliable and enthusiastic support for animal care coupled with meticulous attention to detail. You will also provide technical and experimental skills that support biomedical laboratory animal research.
In addition, you will support BLS teaching by contributing to the generation of animal-derived tissues, cells and other data (e.g. behavioural data/images). You will also be responsible for leading the initiation and management of a new chicken egg embryo research facility within the department.
As this is a career development role, it is not anticipated that you will currently have skills in all of these areas. On the job training will be provided, and you will be supported by the department and BLS colleagues in developing the skills needed to fulfil the role in its entirety.
