Building on Lancaster’s reputation as one of the UK’s largest cyber and data research communities, the School of Computing & Communications (SCC) wishes to appoint a Teaching Fellow to assist with the design, delivery and ongoing improvement of lab-based modules on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
This is a full-time position for a one-year fixed period and offers the opportunity to help deliver a world-class education experience in computer science and cyber-security.
You should be able to demonstrate a strong computer science background and excellence in lab-based teaching at University level with experience teaching on a range of cyber-security related courses.
The ideal candidate will have strong programming, systems and computational problem solving and software design skills.
Responsibilities
- Deliver lab-based teaching and assess coursework.
- Contribute to curriculum development where appropriate.
- Mark and assess coursework and provide feedback to students.
- Support students with exam preparation and revision techniques.
- Participate in teaching reviews and quality assurance processes.
Qualifications
- Strong computer science background with excellence in lab-based teaching at university level.
- Experience teaching a range of cyber-security related courses.
- Strong programming, systems and computational problem solving and software design skills.
- Passion for creating an outstanding lab-based learning environment.
- Desirable specialist knowledge areas: cyber-security, computer networking, operating systems and systems programming.

The SCC is committed to excellent research-led and problem-focused student learning and offers degrees in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering and Data Science at undergraduate level, and MScs in Computer Science, Data Science and Cyber Security at postgraduate level.
The School maintains a good staff–student ratio with around 50+ academic staff, 40 postdoctoral research staff, 120 Ph D students and a combined undergraduate and taught Masters student population of approximately 1,000.
