Senior Research Associate in the Cognitive Neuroscience of Bi-/Multilingualism.
Senior Research Associate in the School of Social Sciences, Lancaster University (fixed term contract for two years).
The School of Social Sciences seeks to appoint a post-doctoral researcher (fixed term contract for two years) to work in the Brain and Bilingual Experiences Lab (Ba BEL).
The successful candidate will join a vibrant and productive lab (Ba BEL), which is one of two labs in the Multilingualism and Cognition (M&C) research group within the Linguistics and English Language (LAEL) discipline.
The successful candidate will work most directly under the supervision of Prof.
Jason Rothman and Prof.
Patrick Rebuschat, who co-lead the M&C research group.
Responsibilities
- Conduct high-quality research in the cognitive neuroscience of bi-/multilingualism and language experience.
- Collaborate with Ba BEL and M&C researchers and contribute to the supervision and support of colleagues in the lab.
- Develop an established or developing portfolio of publications in high-impact international journals.
- Contribute to grant submissions (or demonstrate evidence of competitive grant experience).
- Apply and advance neuroimaging methods and analyses related to the neurobiology of language, linguistic processing, and neurocognitive adaptations associated with language experience, with a preference for experiences related to bi-/multilingualism.
Qualifications
- Ph D in Linguistics (specialization in Psycho- or Neurolinguistics), Psychology (specializing in language and/or bi-/multilingualism), Cognitive Neuroscience, or a cognate area.
- Demonstrable experience with neuroimaging methods and analysis related to language neurobiology, linguistic processing, and neurocognitive adaptations associated with language experience.
- Evidence of research publications in high-impact journals and potential experience with competitive grant submissions.
- Ability to work effectively in a lab environment and contribute to collaborative research projects.
