We are seeking an outstanding academic leader to shape and deliver Lancaster University Management School's (LUMS) contribution to the Education Strategy. This is an exciting opportunity to provide strategic leadership for the School's education portfolio, ensuring that LUMS continues to deliver an outstanding student experience and maintains its reputation for excellence in business and management education.

As Interim Associate Dean for Education, you will lead the development and implementation of the School's education strategy, overseeing all aspects of educational provision. You will play a pivotal role in developing an innovative, market-informed portfolio of programmes, enhancing quality assurance and enhancement, improving the student experience, and supporting student recruitment and conversion. You will champion excellence and innovation in teaching and learning while driving continuous improvement across key education performance indicators, including the National Student Survey (NSS), Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES), Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF), business and management rankings, and international accreditation outcomes.

The role also involves building and strengthening external relationships with organisations such as EFMD, AACSB, AMBA and CABS, ensuring that LUMS remains at the forefront of developments in business and management education. Working collaboratively across the School, you will lead the LUMS Education Management Team, comprising Directors of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Education alongside Professional Services colleagues, and work closely with departmental education leaders to deliver the School's strategic priorities.

As a member of the Faculty Leadership Group (FLG), you will share collective responsibility for achieving the School's strategic objectives and fostering an inclusive, collaborative and supportive culture that enables both individual and organisational success. You will be an established member of the LUMS academic community at Senior Lecturer level or above, holding a substantive appointment that extends beyond the duration of this interim role. You will bring experience of educational leadership, gained through departmental leadership, programme or project management, or collaboration with external organisations. Most importantly, you will have the credibility, strategic vision and collaborative leadership style needed to inspire colleagues and influence across a complex organisational environment.

You Will Demonstrate

  • A strong understanding of the competitive business and management education landscape.
  • Experience of leading educational enhancement, curriculum development and/or quality assurance initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • The ability to lead through collaboration within a matrix environment.
  • A commitment to delivering an outstanding student experience and advancing the University's education, student experience, quality assurance, and recruitment and conversion ambitions.

This is an interim appointment until July 2027.

The Successful Candidate Will Receive

  • A 50% workload allocation to support the role.
  • An annual salary transfer (pro rata) to their home department.
  • An unconsolidated, non-pensionable salary uplift, equivalent to one increment on the professorial scale or two increments on Grade 9.
  • An additional £3,000 annual allowance to support research, knowledge exchange, scholarly activity and/or educational enhancement, payable either through salary or into a Personal Research Account (PRA).

Applications Should Comprise

  • A short curriculum vitae
  • A supporting statement/cover letter (maximum two A4 pages, Arial 11pt, normal margins)

We are keen to appoint as soon as possible in advance of the next academic year.
