Location: Bailrigg, Lancaster, UK

Salary: Senior Salary (Full time, fixed term)

Term of office: 4‑year secondment, renewable for one further term; upon completion revert to substantive position.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide academic leadership for the Department, managing and developing staff, teaching, research and engagement activities.
  • Represent the Department to the Faculty and the University.
  • Encourage and develop excellence in teaching, research and engagement across colleagues.
  • Other responsibilities detailed in the HoD ’Role and Major Areas of Responsibility’ document.

Qualifications:

  • Existing member of academic staff within the Department of Management Science.
  • Contract of employment at the University extending for at least four years upon appointment to HoD.
  • Applicant normally at professorial level; Senior Lecturer or Senior Teaching Fellow considered on an exceptional basis.
  • Only current employees of Lancaster University are eligible to apply.

Benefits and Rewards:

  • Non‑superannuable salary supplement equivalent to one increment on salary scale (professorial) or two increments for Senior Lecturers/Senior Teaching Fellows.
  • Head of Department annual allowance, non‑superannuable.
  • Option to consolidate allowance into salary on a permanent basis upon successful performance.
  • Sabbatical/AREL leave eligibility after term of office, subject to agreement with the Dean.
