The Sport Lancaster team operates a purpose-built Sports Centre featuring an 8.5m climbing wall, multi‑function sports halls, swimming pool, sauna & steam room, 100‑station Technogym Fitness Suite, squash courts and more. We also manage the university’s outdoor facilities.

As a Fitness Instructor you will be responsive to members’ needs, regularly available to provide help and advice on the gym floor, and deliver fitness services to an exceptional level. Your role will ensure safe and effective working practices are maintained and delivered to exceptional customer standards. You will also provide services and support for the University’s engagement and wellbeing strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist members on the gym floor with fitness guidance and equipment usage.
  • Deliver fitness programmes and maintain high safety standards.
  • Support the university’s engagement and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting related to facility usage.

Shift Work:

Monday – Friday: Early Shifts – 5:30am start. Late Shifts – 10:30pm finish.

Weekends: Early Shifts – 7:00am start. Late Shifts – 6:30pm finish.

Full‑time work of 36.5 hours per week on a rotating pattern.

Additional Opportunities:

Alongside your Fitness Instructor duties, you will have the opportunity to grow your Personal Training experience within the Sports Centre and coach high‑energy HYROX classes, motivating members to improve their strength, fitness and overall performance.
