The School of Engineering is looking to appoint a highly motivated individual to join our Professional Services team as a Distribution Centre Coordinator. This post is available at grade 5 or as a development role where it is anticipated that upon satisfactory completion of a predetermined training programme the role holder will progress to G5. The post is initially funded until 31 July 2027; candidates seeking a secondment opportunity are welcomed.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing goods inwards and outwards.
  • Receiving, handling and storing safely, deliveries to the stores area for the School, including those with specific health and safety requirements: e.g. gas cylinders, chemicals & solvents.
  • Notifying members of the department that items ordered have arrived and arrange collection.
  • Procurement for taught students, e.g. for individual and group projects.
  • Liaison with delivery drivers, logistics/courier companies etc. as required.

At grade 5 the role will further be responsible for:

  • Fork lift truck operation.
  • Safe use of workshop machinery used to cut materials to required size e.g. band saw, guillotine.
  • Management of hazardous waste storage & collection.
  • Management and distribution of compressed gas cylinders.
  • Advise on use of couriers and overseas dispatches, import and export procedures and hazardous goods transportation.

Your work will include frequent liaison with teaching and research staff, undergraduate and post graduate students. Applicants should be good communicators and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
