Research Laboratory Technician – Biomedical & Life Sciences, Bailrigg, Lancaster, UK – Salary: £33,002 to £37,694 – Full time 1.0 FTE – Closing date: Sunday 24 May 2026.
Role responsibilities
- Carrying out defined laboratory experiments, including molecular biology, protein purification, assay development, antibody discovery, and venom activity assays.
- Maintaining accurate experimental records and supporting data organization and management.
- Supporting the day‑to‑day running of the lab, including preparing reagents, maintaining equipment, managing stock, and ordering consumables.
- Assisting with laboratory administration, including health and safety documentation, record keeping, and coordination with collaborators.
- Providing technical support and training to students and other lab members.
- Participating in lab meetings, training, and relevant outreach or engagement activities.
About you
- A degree in molecular biology, biochemistry or a related discipline.
- Practical laboratory experience in biological research.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage time effectively and support multiple aspects of laboratory and project activity.
- A proactive approach to problem‑solving and technical troubleshooting, with the confidence to take initiative and work independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a collaborative, team‑oriented approach.
- A high level of attention to detail and commitment to accurate record‑keeping.
Experience and skills – advantageous
- Experience in cloning, protein expression and purification, antibody‑related methods, assay development, or general molecular biology techniques.
- Knowledge of supporting laboratory operations, including inventory management, ordering, and health and safety documentation.
