Associate Dean for People and Resources, Faculties of Health and Medicine (FHM) and Science and Technology (FST).
We are seeking an individual with leadership and management experience gained for example, as part of the senior management team of a Department or Faculty, to work and develop this new role across both faculties. The role is designed to support the PVC HMST and HoD/Ss in managing the people and staffing portfolio as well as overseeing physical resources, to include sustainability, equipment and digital provision. The role will contribute significantly and directly to the design and future success of the new structure being developed for FHM and FST and, thus, represents a significant leadership opportunity. The role will make a major difference to our communities through promoting positive workplace culture and ensuring well‑resourced departments. The holder would deputise for the PVC at a senior level as deemed appropriate.
The role represents a commitment that amounts to a 60% workload. The reward package is detailed below.
- Newly appointed Associate Deans will receive the agreed unconsolidated salary uplift. This is equivalent to one increment on the professorial scale or two increments on the main pay scale.
- After 18 months in post, an Associate Dean’s performance will be reviewed by the PVC using the Associate Dean mid‑term review form.
- The outcome of a successful review will see the salary uplift consolidated and become superannuable.
- The Associate Dean will receive a £4,000 allowance to support their research, scholarly activity, and/or educational enhancement.
- All eligible Associate Deans can be considered for an additional term of sabbatical/research and scholarship leave if this would act to support their research trajectory and outputs.
- The appointment is for four years in the first instance, renewable for one further term of up to four years, subject to satisfactory performance in the role.
Before submitting an application, prospective applicants should obtain their HoD/Ss consent to apply.
We anticipate a start date as soon as possible ahead of the next academic year.
To arrange an informal discussion about the role, please contact Robyn Harrison, robyn.harrison@lancaster.ac.uk, Executive Assistant to Phil Barker, PVC, Health, Medicine, Science and Technology
