Sugarhouse is the nightclub owned and operated by Lancaster University Students' Union. Sugarhouse is looking for student staff to work as part of a team providing an efficient and friendly service to students and members alike. They are recruiting for 25/26 and 26/27 academic years, on a flexible part-time basis.

Location: Sugarhouse

Hours: Approx. 5-7 hours with potential of more (will include Wednesday and Friday nights)

Interview Date: 10th April 2026

Preferred Start Date: 20th April 2026

Expected End Date: 31st July 2026

Job Description

  • To collect tickets and money at the front door.
  • To work behind the bar serving drinks, with table service for early evening events.
  • To stock the bar with drinks, glasses and ice.
  • To collect glasses, wash them and return them to the bar.
  • To work in the cloakroom taking customers’ personal belongings and issuing tickets.
  • To carry out light cleaning duties; including washing tables, mopping floors and maintaining a decent standard of cleanliness in the toilets.
  • To attend appropriate training sessions.
  • To attend regular staff meetings.
  • To be willing to take part in marketing activities for the venue.
  • To uphold the Union's environmental, sustainable and ethical policies and to carry out similar duties as directed by the Chief Executive or her nominee.
  • Must be able to work Roses 2026 and Freshers 2026.

Person Specification

  • A current student at Lancaster University.
  • Outgoing and confident personality with good communication skills.
  • Able to work as a part of a team in a busy and fast working environment.
  • Reliable and self-sufficient with work.
  • Able to work Roses 2026 and Freshers 2026.
  • Due to the nature of the role, the applicant must be 18+.
  • Past experience working in bars (not essential).
