The Facilities Division operates across campus to maintain and develop our buildings, providing vital support services 24/7/365.

A great opportunity has arisen to join a busy, dynamic, and friendly team supporting our vision: “making campus an inspiring place to be”.

We currently have a vacancy for a College Porter on our Bailrigg Campus within the Facilities Division at Lancaster University. The position is full-time, working an average of 42 hours per week on a 24-hour shift rotation. This rotation includes 12-hour day and night shifts, continuing 24/7, 365 days a year, which may include working on Bank Holidays and weekends. An allowance for Shift Work and additional hours worked over 36.5 per week is provided. Overtime may also be available.

Ideal candidates should be hardworking, reliable, eager to learn, and possess excellent customer service skills. Portering experience is desirable but not essential; experience in a similar environment is advantageous. Comfort with computers and multiple software systems is required. Candidates should have GCSEs in Maths and English, be committed to high standards, able to work independently and as part of a team, flexible, and open to new ideas and training.
