Overview

Under direct supervision, the Seasonal Maintenance Crew Worker is responsible for maintaining the grounds of county-owned property. This position performs semi-skilled maintenance tasks, operates various equipment, and assists with other duties as assigned to ensure facilities and grounds remain safe, functional, and attractive for public use.

Responsibilities

  • Mow, trim, and edge lawns using commercial lawn mowers and other groundskeeping equipment.
  • Perform landscaping duties such as planting, mulching, pruning, and leaf removal.
  • Collect and dispose of trash and debris from county properties.
  • Maintain sports fields, walking trails, playgrounds, and other park areas.
  • Inspect and perform routine maintenance on equipment and tools.
  • Assist with set-up and breakdown for special events as assigned.
  • Perform minor repairs to park facilities and structures.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Setting up, breaking down, and working special events.

Qualifications

  • Ability to operate and maintain commercial lawn mowers, trimmers, blowers, and other related equipment.
  • Knowledge of landscaping and grounds maintenance techniques.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy objects weighing 75–100 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and work independently or in a team.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience operating commercial mowing and landscaping equipment preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.

Work Environment

Work is performed primarily outdoors and may involve exposure to extreme weather conditions, loud noise, dust, and chemicals. Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting, and operating heavy equipment.
