Join us as a Street Cleansing Operative/Driver and play a vital role in keeping Lancaster's streets, parks, and public spaces clean, safe, and welcoming. Your work will directly support our vision for Clean, Green, and Safe Neighbourhoods, helping to create a positive environment that residents and visitors can be proud of.
What You’ll Be Doing
- You’ll be hands-on with a variety of tasks including litter collection, graffiti removal, clearing fly-tipping, and maintaining street furniture.
- Responding to out of hours emergencies on a rota basis.
- Operating mechanical sweepers and cage wagons (up to 7.5t tonnes).
- Seasonal duties like leaf clearance and gritting.
- Engaging with the public professionally, ensuring our community spaces remain inviting and safe.
You hold a full, clean driving licence including at least Category C1 (7.5t) with a valid driver CPC and are ready to work outdoors in all weather conditions. You’re trustworthy, take pride in your work, and communicate well with others. Your willingness to learn and follow health and safety practices aligns with our values of Working Together, Ambition, Pride, and Ownership and are flexible with working evenings, weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis. No previous experience is needed as full training will be provided.
