Join us as a Community Projects Officer and play a vital role in delivering the Holiday Activities and Food Programme, supporting children and families during key holiday periods. You’ll contribute to enhancing community health and wellbeing by working closely with partners and helping shape the Healthy Communities Strategy. Your work will ensure safeguarding and high-quality services that make a real difference across Lancaster.
What You’ll Be Doing
- You will manage the day-to-day running of the Holiday Activities and Food Programme, acting as the main contact for Lancaster City Council and liaising with delivery partners.
- Your responsibilities include contract administration, monitoring project performance, conducting quality assurance checks, and leading safeguarding efforts.
- You’ll also design communications to raise awareness, identify development opportunities, and support community and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
- You have experience in grant funding and coordinating programmes, with strong skills in multi-agency working and communication.
- Attention to detail and the ability to prioritise your workload are key.

Local Government Reorganisation
The Government has confirmed that local government across Lancashire will be reorganised, with the current 15 councils being replaced by four new unitary councils covering North, South, East and West Lancashire from April 2028. If you are successful in your application, you will initially join Lancaster City Council. However, as part of the planned transition, your employment will transfer to one of the new unitary councils from April 2028, subject to the implementation of the reorganisation and relevant employment legislation. Throughout this period, our focus remains on delivering excellent services to our communities. By joining us now, you'll play an important role in shaping the future of local government and helping to build a strong new organisation that will serve residents for years to come.
