Join us as a Grounds Maintenance Operative and play a vital role in keeping Lancaster\'s open spaces clean, green, and welcoming. Your work will directly support the council\'s ambitions for safe, attractive neighbourhoods, enhancing community pride and wellbeing across parks, streets, beaches, and gardens.
What You\'ll Be Doing
You\'ll carry out a variety of tasks including grass cutting, litter and graffiti removal, landscaping, playground installation, and weed control. Operating fleet vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes, you\'ll maintain street furniture, assist with event setups, and support community volunteers. Your role also involves seasonal duties like snow clearance and gritting, ensuring public spaces remain safe and accessible year-round.
You\'ll Fit Right In If…
You have Level 2 horticulture knowledge or equivalent experience, a full UK driving licence with trailer entitlement (or ability to obtain), and confidence working independently with integrity. You\'re physically fit, enjoy working outdoors in all weather, and communicate effectively with colleagues and the public.
