We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow to join the team delivering the MBBS programme at our Westlakes Campus in Whitehaven, Cumbria. The successful applicant will facilitate small group learning activities involving undergraduate medical students in years 3-5 of the University's MBBS programme and will also act as personal tutor for a group of students. Teaching activities will include delivery of case based learning, professionalism, clinical reasoning, clinical and communication skills and simulation based education sessions. Additional time is allocated for preparation work. In addition to the teaching role the postholder will participate in assessment activities including portfolio review and OSCE examining and selection events in the form of MMIs. This post is based at the University’s Westlakes campus near Whitehaven. Occasional travel to Preston or Burnley campuses may be required. This is a fixed term opportunity which is designed to give new clinicians development and experience of working within academia, in addition to giving our students exposure to clinicians with recent and up to date relevant clinical skills.
You will hold a Primary Medical Qualification, registration with the General Medical Council, and have demonstrable knowledge of the role of a resident doctor in the UK. You will be experienced in working to the standards required of professional bodies and have excellent clinical and communication skills. Applicants need to meet all essential criteria on the person specification to be considered for interview.
