We are seeking to appoint a highly creative and ambitious Lecturer within the School of Art and Media with primary responsibility for teaching on our BA (Hons) Interior Design course. Design at the University of Lancashire has an excellent reputation, with notable graduate success and high scoring NSS. The course sits within a respected, industry-facing design team committed to excellence in creative education.
Duties will include working as part of the BA (Hons) Interior Design team with cross year teaching responsibilities involved in all areas of course delivery. These will include teaching, assessment, feedback, module leadership, and workshop delivery. You will contribute specialist teaching across a broad spectrum of interior design sectors, including commercial, hospitality, retail, and residential applications. The successful candidate will lead modules, deliver engaging teaching, and contribute to the wider academic and administrative life of the course. This includes maintaining student records, supporting recruitment through open days and events, and offering expert guidance on progression and careers.
You will have a genuine passion for interior design, strong communication and presentation skills, and an enthusiasm for building external partnerships that enhance student employability and the course’s profile.
The successful candidate will be a highly driven enthusiastic individual who can deliver inclusive and inspiring teaching, with a strong background in interior design practice and experience of teaching in a higher education studio environment. You will have teaching experience in a higher education environment and an undergraduate degree or equivalent in a relevant area. You will have up-to-date knowledge of contemporary interior design theory, digital and craft practices, and current software tools. You will have the ability to plan and deliver studio-based teaching, seminars, and tutorials aligned with course aims and learning outcomes. You will also lead or support specific projects and collaborate with other tutors, courses and visiting lecturers. You will be expected to develop industry contacts and reach out to other external organisations to enhance the course’s reputation. Finally, the chosen candidate will be expected to be involved in recruiting new students at outreach events.
