About the role
We are seeking to appoint a highly creative and ambitious Lecturer within the School of Art and Media with primary responsibility for teaching on our BA (Hons) Fine Art course. BA (Hons) Fine Art at University of Lancashire has an excellent reputation, with notable graduate success and high scoring NSS.
Responsibilities
Duties will include working as part of the Fine Art team with cross‑year teaching responsibilities involved in all areas of course delivery. These will include teaching, assessment, feedback, module leadership, and workshop delivery. You will offer specialist support in Sculpture, using innovative ways to engage students in printmaking and textiles within the wider scope of Fine Art. You will deliver introductory workshops in sculpture, printmaking and textiles, showcasing a variety of processes and mediums available across campus to small groups of undergraduate students. You will be able to offer intermediate and advanced levels of support in these areas on a 1‑1 basis. You will use your experience of exhibiting to help students’ problem solve and realise ambitious installations of sculpture, textiles and printmaking.
About you
The successful candidate will be a highly driven enthusiastic individual who can deliver inclusive and inspiring teaching and be able to work collaboratively with other staff in the area. You will have teaching experience in a higher education environment and an undergraduate degree or equivalent in a relevant area. The successful candidate should possess a well‑versed knowledge of contemporary art practice and be able to align student projects to these current debates and practices. You must be able to utilise this contextual knowledge to help students to develop an independent programme of work. You will be expected to get involved in the development of industry contacts and potential employers and other external organisations to develop the course’s employability potential and reputation. Finally, the chosen candidate will be expected to be involved in recruiting new students at outreach events.
