About the role

The University of Lancashire wishes to recruit a Laboratory Technician to join our Technical Services team who provides support to the wide variety of laboratories at our Preston campus. The successful candidate will primarily be focused on supporting undergraduate classes and research within our state-of-the-art laboratories based in Preston.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Set up and prepare laboratories.
  • Provide day‑to‑day technical support and advice to staff and students across a diverse range of Pharmacy subjects, from dispensing medication to tablet manufacturing.
  • Coordinate and undertake maintenance and configuration of equipment and relevant software.
  • Assist in the introduction of new technologies, procedures and practices.
  • Be familiar with pharmaceutical dispensing and laboratory equipment.

About you

Candidates should have experience of preparing, supporting and clearing away laboratory environments. They must possess practical skills and an ability to plan and prioritise workload. A Level 3 qualification, such as A Levels or BTEC, in a relevant area, or appropriate equivalent experiential learning is required for this role. Applicants must meet all essential criteria on the person specification to be considered for interview. This position is based in Preston.
