Olive House is seeking Befriending volunteers. Their role would be to help positively engage residents and assist them in participating in various activities held at the home. Regular meetings with a befriender can increase confidence, resilience, and independence of the service users. Befrienders actively support, encourage, and empower residents to achieve specific goals and objectives.

This volunteering role is subject to a DBS check. To qualify, you must have been a resident in the UK for the past 3 years.
- Applicants must be willing to undergo an induction process with relevant background checks and an enhanced DBS check (free of charge).
- Once you apply online, one of our Volunteer Officers will contact you to arrange your DBS check.
- Encourage and spend time chatting and listening to residents to help combat loneliness.
- Help brighten a resident’s day.
- Log volunteering hours monthly and submit expenses online (where applicable).
- Complete minimum level training, such as safeguarding, and commit to further training relevant to the role.

Training:
Training will be provided via distance learning or trainer-led sessions. Volunteers must complete the required training before participating in activities and may be asked to refresh training periodically.
