Join us as a Department Implant/Instrument Coordinator and play a key role in the smooth running of our theatres at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. In this dynamic role, you will be the go-to expert for managing implants and instruments across elective, emergency, and trauma surgery. You will ensure everything is in place for successful operations—tracking stock, maintaining sterility, and liaising with suppliers and internal teams to keep things moving efficiently. Main duties of the job:
- The post holder will be responsible for using their clinical knowledge to streamline, organise, monitor and order as required, implants/stock for elective, emergency and trauma surgery.
- To monitor and assist with any stock issues around instruments within the department.
- To help streamline instrument trays for the department.
- To assist with stock control and provide audit reports on stock as requested.
- To liaise with management, procurement and finance teams with required audit information.
- The post holder needs to be acutely aware of the budgetary resources available and the need to work within the financial envelope.
- They will ensure all stock and loan kit is stored and handled correctly and that strict sterility is maintained.
- They will assist the theatre teams by monitoring processes to ensure that all implants received and processed and that strict inventory of invoices and receipts are maintained to ensure accurate accounting.
- To provide monthly feedback to finance when implants have been used.
- They will support the productive operation of the theatre lists by liaising with procurement to ensure that stock levels reflect demand and any shortfalls are escalated communicated across the department.
- They will build and maintain relationships with procurement, other departments, companies and their representatives and act as a point of contact.
