This is an extremely exciting opportunity to work in a Senior Nurse Leadership Role on Brindle Ward at Chorley & South Ribble Hospital.
Main duties of the job:
- As the ward manager, you will be responsible for the efficient and effective management of the ward ensuring patient safety and staff well-being are paramount.
- It is essential to have strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate effectively with the wider multidisciplinary team.
- You will ensure that the nursing team and care support team within their ward or department are adequately resourced and organised.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities:
We are keen to support the right person in their leadership progression who would like the opportunity as a Band 7 Ward Manager and who has experience in acute hospital settings.
- Ensure the productive operation of the ward through the monitoring and maintenance of quality standards that create a safe, clean and organised environment.
- Using processes designed to increase the time nurses spend in therapeutic contact with patients.
- The successful candidate will work closely with the matron and be supported by the Divisional senior nursing and management team.

Qualifications & Education:
- Essential criteria:
- Appropriate NMC Registration
- Mentorship qualification
- Post Registration Qualifications relevant to the role
- Diploma or Degree in Nursing
- Successful completion of/will to work towards a leadership and development programme (equivalent to the Internal Band 6 Leadership and Development programme).
- Desirable criteria:
- Level 4 ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management) or equivalent
Knowledge & Experience:
- Essential criteria:
- Knowledge of Clinical Governance and Safeguarding and the relevance of these to practice
- Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures
- Evidence of clinical competence in area of speciality e.g. surgery
- Experience of mentorship and ability to identify learning and development needs
- Knowledge of ethical issues
- Desirable criteria:
- Experience of budgetary management
- Knowledge of the PDPR Process
- Evidence of working at Band 7
- Experience of managing a clinical area
