Overview

Are you caring and compassionate? Newly qualified or registered? We welcome you to join our friendly Endoscopy team. We are excited, ambitious and forward-thinking and look for a committed, enthusiastic, motivated and resilient individual to join our nursing team. This opportunity involves working as part of a dedicated, hardworking and friendly team in one of our two JAG accredited Endoscopy units within the Trust. Initially based at Royal Preston Hospital, you will provide cross-site cover at Chorley District Hospital Endoscopy unit when needed.

Support and extensive training will be provided, including an eight-week supernumerary period with a dedicated mentor and our Clinical Educator. You will have excellent communication skills, be forward thinking and well organized, with a positive attitude towards flexibility and change. Your role is to work as part of a team delivering patient-centred, clinically effective and compassionate care to ensure patients have a positive Endoscopy experience.

Responsibilities

The role involves working as part of an Endoscopy team to provide high-quality patient care and support. Responsibilities include:

  • Deliver patient-centred, clinically effective and compassionate Endoscopy care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families and the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Participate in a structured training program, including an 8-week supernumerary period with a mentor and Clinical Educator.
  • Be flexible and responsive to service needs, including cross-site coverage.

Procedures at Royal Preston Hospital

  • GI procedures including OGD, Colonoscopy, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy, Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR), ERCP, Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS).
  • Participation in the National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP) as part of the North-West team.
  • Diagnostic bronchoscopy and GI Emergency Bleed rota.
  • Diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy including EBUS/TBNA, Endobronchial valves and coils/stents, thoracoscopy, Indwelling Pleural Catheter (IPC) placement, and Nasal-endoscopy for Induced Laryngeal Obstruction (ILO).

Procedures at Chorley District Hospital

  • GI procedures including OGD, Colonoscopy, Flexible sigmoidoscopy, EMR, ERCP, and Breath Tests.
  • Diagnostic bronchoscopy.
  • Participation in the National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP) as part of the North-West team.
