We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Paediatric Nurse seeking to undertake an interesting and highly rewarding clinical leadership role.
About the Team
The Special Needs School Nursing Team currently provides support to children and young people in 14 schools across Pennine, Central, and West Lancashire. The team works with schools where children have additional and/or complex medical needs, providing support, advice, education, and training to school staff, families, and other health providers to meet the health needs of children and young people with complex health needs.
Role Overview
This team leader role involves clinical leadership and management of 24 Senior Nurses, Nurses, Health Care Support Workers, and Admin staff. The leader ensures resource coordination to provide comprehensive care and coproduction with families and education staff to support children’s attendance at school.

The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking and experienced Paediatric Nurse with extensive clinical skills and knowledge in delivering services in a school environment or caring for children with complex physical needs. This role offers an opportunity to further develop expertise in community nursing.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure delivery of high-quality, evidence-based clinical care pathways.
- Utilize available resources effectively in a safe and supportive manner.
- Participate in clinical networks across the Northwest, maintaining skills and providing expert guidance on complex nursing needs.
- Oversee clinical governance, quality improvement, and performance management of the team.
- Provide management supervision and support professional development for team members.
- Collaborate with service managers and team leaders across related teams to ensure clinical development and governance.
