The Children’s Integrated Therapy Service is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated qualified speech & language therapist to join our experienced and friendly Greater Preston based locality team. Experience of working in paediatrics is desirable but not essential. This is a fixed term post for 12 months to cover a maternity leave in the team.

We work with children and young people aged 0-19 with well developed and evidenced based pathways covering the needs of children with communication needs. We can offer clinical and management supervision, specialist support by experienced senior staff, continuing professional development and specialist SLT Forums. The Children’s Therapy service has a strong network of Clinical Leads.

The team comprises speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, consisting of both therapists and assistants. We work closely with colleagues in health, education and social care to provide a genuinely child-centred service. We work in a variety of locations, including clinics, children’s own homes, nurseries and mainstream and special schools.

The successful candidate must be able to effectively manage their own time and demonstrate excellent communication skills. An interest in working with children and their families is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assessment, planning and delivery of speech and language therapy services to children and young people aged 0-19 with communication needs.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and education/health/social care colleagues to support child-centred outcomes.
  • Maintain and develop evidence-based pathways within paediatric speech and language therapy.
  • Receive supervision and participate in continuing professional development and specialist SLT forums.
  • Manage own caseload and time effectively while maintaining high professional standards.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Speech & Language Therapist.
  • Experience in paediatrics is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with children and families.
