Job Summary
Do you want to be part of a rapidly developing service committed to improving the lives of Children, Young People and their families? We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Senior CYPMH Practitioner to join the CYPMH and Child Psychology team in Lancaster and Morecambe. We are recruiting two Band 6 Senior CYPMH Practitioners. The practitioner will complement the wider multi-disciplinary CYPMH; a busy, friendly service providing a range of treatment approaches to children and young people 0 – 18yrs including CBT, EMDR, DBT, SCM, Psychiatry, Psychology and Family Therapy. We also work in close collaboration with partner agencies. We work with children, young people and families up to the age of 18 presenting with a wide range of moderate to severe emotional and mental difficulties. Experience of working with children and young people with mental health difficulties would be essential. We are committed to ongoing CPD; opportunities to be involved in training initiatives, including CYP IAPT.
Responsibilities
Main duties of the job include working as a qualified practitioner in a CYPMH setting. Applications are invited from qualified Registered Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers, and Occupational Therapists with a minimum of 18 months experience, working with children and young people with emotional and mental health needs. You may be required to work in various community settings alongside partner providers. Successful applicants will co-work effectively with colleagues and maintain good clinical records and data collection. The post is for 37.5 hours and will include working some weekends, bank holidays and possible evenings in the future.

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care. The Trust also provides a range of physical health and well-being services in the community alongside partners in the Lancashire, Cumbria and Sefton area. Qualifications
- Essential: First level qualification, RMN or equivalent such as CQSW or occupational therapy
- Essential: Information technology skills sufficient to undertake the post
Knowledge
- Demonstrable knowledge and skills in evidence-based needs-led assessments of highly complex and co-morbid presentations of children, young people, their families and carers
- Demonstrable knowledge and skills in evidence-based therapeutic interventions relevant to the needs of this client group
- Demonstrable ability to communicate to clients, families and professionals sensitive and often difficult information using various methods including verbal, non-verbal, written and presentation skills
Experience
- Minimum of 18 months experience of working within Child Mental Health
- Ability to manage own workload and work autonomously
Desirable
- Experience of working with young people who deliberately self-harm
