An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the Operations team at Lancashire Renewables Ltd. working on a 2-shift system at our Leyland facility.

The Mobile Plant Relief Operative will be responsible for the safe undertaking of mobile plant activities within the waste processing operation. Additionally, when required, support the mobile plant team and carry out general process operative activities associated with processing operations and the general site.

This role involves safely and efficiently operating mobile plant equipment across the site and supporting general processing activities to keep everything running smoothly. You will work closely with the weighbridge team, logistics, maintenance, and other site operatives to keep waste processing operations on track, jumping in with hands-on help when needed. You will also take care of routine paperwork and attend regular team meetings and safety briefings. Staying safe and compliant is a big part of the job, so you will carry out checks on vehicles, handle basic maintenance, and help keep the site clean and tidy.

What you will bring

  • It is essential that you hold an NPORS or equivalent for FLT or Tele-truck.
  • You must demonstrate a willingness to undertake further training to obtain qualifications for operating other mobile plant equipment including FEL.
  • A good standard of education.
  • Strong team player, self-motivated with the capacity to work without close supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels within the business and with external agencies.
  • Ability to follow, understand and interpret systems of work and procedures.
  • Accuracy in completing pre-use checks on mobile plant.
  • A safety conscious approach with the desire to develop & embrace change to promote continuous improvement.

Who are we?

Lancashire Renewables Ltd was established for the operation and management of the two waste treatment facilities built for the Lancashire Waste Contract. Our two facilities in Thornton and Leyland are manned 365 days a year. Both sites can process over 5,000 tonnes of residual (black bin bag) waste per week and divert 95% of this material away from landfill. Our aim is to achieve a sustainable future for Lancashire by providing services to process biodegradable and non-biodegradable community waste and our people are vital in helping us achieve this.
