The predicted salary is between 12 - 15 € per hour.

We are recruiting to fill a position to cover either Mansfield, Newark Castle or possibly both stations. Do you have good communication skills? Do you enjoy working in a challenging role?

Part time casual post, to assist the day to day operation of the station by providing station ticket office cover, as and when required, covering holidays etc., at Mansfield train station with options to also work at Newark Castle or possibly split between both stations. A guarantee of 8 hours per month, with an expected 20 to 30 days of holiday cover available. There could be additional hours available depending upon operational circumstances that are variable throughout the year. Full training will be provided, which generally takes approximately 12 to 18 days.

Skills advantage: IT skills, sales and high standard of customer service experience. A Rail Station Clerk's main function is to sell travel products to the public. Due to specialising in rail travel, prior knowledge of, and sales experience within the rail industry would be beneficial.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Selling travel tickets, travel products; and dealing with customer enquiries.
  • Ensuring that customers are greeted & their queries answered in a timely and satisfactory manner, face to face as well as over the telephone.
  • Have an ability to work without permanent supervision.
  • Collect cash from automatic ticket machines, provide supervision of car park and issuing penalty notices as and when required.
  • The ability to work at other L&MS Rail branches, providing cover, when necessary, upon request from a manager would be an advantage.
  • Working both indoors and outdoors, whilst fulfilling the duties of the post.
  • Provide customers with timetables, brochures & publications in relation to travel products and be knowledgeable of the content of such printed matter.
  • Liaising with travel partners, tour operators and hotels, to manage bookings, schedules & promotions.
  • Provide excellent customer service with a view to retaining and expanding the existing customer base of the company.
  • Assisting the Station Managers in ensuring that the branch is run smoothly, and targets are met.
  • Ordering sales literature, stationery & disposables to ensure the efficient running of the branch.
  • Helping to promote and market the business, including sometimes away from the branch location.
  • Cash handling, key holding, data entry & retrieval; and any other tasks relating to the branch and its function.
  • Attending staff meetings, seminars and training relevant to company procedures, customer care or to the travel industry.
  • Following company & legislative directives for ensuring Health & Safety within the workplace.
  • Ensure the site is clean, collecting general litter, clearing snow from platforms and entrances as well as scatter grit/salt as and when required.

Attractive salary available, level will vary dependent upon experience.
