A rewarding opportunity has arisen for a personal assistant to provide support to a sociable knitting enthusiast, enabling her to attend social events and accompany her to appointments. The lady is a wheelchair user, so a driving license is essential to take her to activities and appointments. There is access to a mobility car and the PA will be added onto the insurance. A hoist and loading equipment are available for loading a wheelchair into the car and full training will be given in using the equipment. The lady has a well-behaved assistance dog in training, so the PA must be comfortable around Labradors and may on occasion be needed to walk the dog. The role will involve light domestic duties including laundry, shopping and food preparation. This is a part-time position for 4 hours per week. Hours and days are variable and can be worked flexibly by mutual agreement. Rate of pay is £13.45 per hour plus 5.6 weeks paid annual leave and a workplace pension scheme.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal assistance to support attendance at social events and appointments.
- Drive the client to activities and appointments using the mobility car, with insurance coverage in place.
- Assist with loading/unloading the wheelchair using hoist and loading equipment, with full training provided.
- Assist around the home with light domestic duties, including laundry, shopping and food preparation.
- Be comfortable around the assistance dog in training and, on occasion, walk the dog if needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Driving license is essential.
- Comfortable around Labradors and able to walk the assistance dog if required.
- Willingness to use hoist and loading equipment and to be trained in their use.
- Ability to perform light domestic duties and support with shopping and meal preparation.
- Flexible to work 4 hours per week with hours/days arranged by mutual agreement.
