An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Personal Assistant to provide support to an autistic child aged 10 within the local community.
As a Personal Assistant, your duties will include:
- Supporting the child to access extra-curricular activities on a regular basis and help develop friendships with peers of a similar age.
- Assisting the child with verbal communication with peers and helping them to interpret meaning to avoid misunderstandings and conflict.
We are looking for a fun and active individual with a passion for working with children with special educational needs, in particular speech and language difficulties.
Responsibilities:
- Support the child to access extra-curricular activities on a regular basis and help develop friendships with peers of a similar age.
- Assist with verbal communication with peers and help interpret meaning to avoid misunderstandings and conflict.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience of supporting children who have suffered trauma is essential, as is a positive attitude and good work ethic.
- You must be punctual and reliable, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A driver with a full clean license is required and you must be prepared to acquire business car insurance which covers you to carry a passenger.
Desirable:
- Paediatric First Aid certificate accredited by FIAB to comply with Health and Safety Regulations 1981; alternatively training will be provided.
Employment Details:
- This is a part-time position for an average of 6 - 7.5 hours per week with an hourly rate of £12.21 plus 5.6 weeks paid annual leave and workplace pension scheme.
- Additional hours will be offered during school holidays, although you will not be obligated to provide more than 7.5 hours support per week.
