An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Personal Assistant to provide support to a 9-year-old boy with severe ASD within his home and the local community. The boy is non-verbal, has no danger awareness, and is prone to seizures. Therefore, the successful applicant must be trained in First Aid and know how to manage seizures, including the recovery position.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting with personal care, including nappy changes.
- Supporting the child during walks in nature, swimming, and other outdoor activities (in all weather conditions).
- Accompanying the child to community outings, avoiding crowded or busy environments.
- Supporting the child's dietary needs, including his restrictive diet.
- Managing sensory needs (e.g., using ear defenders, supporting with a chewy).
- Ensuring safety and supervision, including use of a harness when needed.
Person Specification:
- The child thrives on structure and loves to be outdoors, so the ideal candidate will be fit, active, and enthusiastic, with a hands-on approach to supporting his needs.
