Part-time, two days per week, vision rehabilitation post based primarily in Wyre. International Sponsorship – this role is not open to international sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Join the Sensory Impairment Team to assess needs (usually in people’s homes) and deliver training and specialist guidance as part of a coordinated response to individuals’ needs.
  • Deliver standard training as orientation and mobility, independent living and communication skills, as well as low vision training (you will not be dispensing LVAs).
  • Work with individuals with vision impairments, their families and carers, and collaborate with internal and external professionals (e.g., hearing impairment specialists, social care teams, OTs, health and local/national vision impairment charities).
  • Build professional, trusting relationships with partners to provide high quality assessments and training.
  • Receive good team support, regular supervision, opportunities to build on existing skills, and participate in a well-established team within Lancashire County Council’s Adult Social Care Service.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Qualified Vision Rehabilitation Specialist able to deliver standard training (orientation and mobility, independent living, communication skills, and low vision training).
  • Not dispensing LVAs.
  • Ability to work in a part-time job-share arrangement (Thursday and Friday).
  • Valid driving requirement and insurance for business use; driving may be accommodated for those with disabilities where possible.
  • DBS disclosure as part of recruitment process (post applying to Disclosure and Barring Service per Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974).

Additional Information

  • Salary quoted is full-time equivalent; salary will be paid pro-rata based on hours worked.
  • Post is based primarily in Wyre and requires providing a car for duties, with insurance for business use.
  • We offer good team support, supervision, benefits and generous annual leave entitlements.
  • This position is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended); disclosures may be required.
