About The Role
Lancashire County Council is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Site Building Supervisor to join our Construction Safety and Quality Team within Property Services. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of a diverse programme of construction projects across the county. Working alongside our in‑house multidisciplinary teams- including Architects, Surveyors, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, and Project Managers. You will ensure projects are delivered safely, to specification, and to the highest quality standards. You will also support the Construction Safety and Quality Manager and Co‑ordinators in maintaining oversight of works on site. Our Building Group within Property Services delivers a £50m+ capital programme, maintaining and improving a wide range of council buildings including schools, libraries, museums, and residential care settings. This post supports the delivery of multiple projects through our partnering framework and competitive tender processes.
What You Will Do
- Monitor construction quality, safety, and compliance from commencement to completion and throughout the defects liability period
- Uphold quality standards and ensure works follow specifications, drawings, and statutory requirements
- Provide clear reporting and feedback to project teams
- Work across new build, refurbishment, and maintenance schemes
- Identify issues proactively and support resolution of technical or compliance matters
- Contribute to a collaborative, customer‑focused service across Property Services
This role is central to safeguarding the council’s interests and ensuring every project is delivered with excellence.
About You
- Has experience in the traditional Clerk of Works discipline or similar site‑supervision roles
- Possesses strong knowledge of modern construction standards, materials, and specifications
- Understands health and safety legislation and its practical application on site
- Communicates clearly and confidently with contractors, colleagues, and stakeholders
- Works effectively within a multidisciplinary environment
- Applies professional judgement to resolve problems
- Brings enthusiasm, professionalism, and a commitment to continuous improvement
