Job Summary

St Wilfrid's Nursery, part of St Wilfrid's Primary School, Longridge, Lancashire, is seeking a Nursery Assistant. The ideal candidate will hold a Level 3 childcare qualification or be willing to obtain one. Previous experience working with children is required.

Salary and Hours

Paid £13.00 per hour. Initial contract is 35 hours per week on a variable permanent basis, with potential for reduced hours down to 15 hours per week, reviewed termly based on child registration. Salary paid monthly by BACS net of deductions on the 28th of each month. Pro‑rata payments apply for additional or reduced hours.

Benefits

5.6 weeks paid annual leave including bank holidays, taken during nursery closure periods. Release time available for qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Support day‑to‑day care and learning activities for pre‑school children aged 2–4.
  • Assist in planning and delivering developmentally appropriate sessions.
  • Maintain a safe and nurturing environment in line with safeguarding policies.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • No formal qualification required, but a Level 3 childcare or Teaching Assistant qualification (L2 or above) is preferred.
  • Experience working with children, paid or voluntary.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience working with pre‑school aged children.
