Children and Family Wellbeing Service (CFW) have some exciting employment opportunities, we are recruiting for Neighbourhood Group Workers in our West Lancashire District. Being a Neighbourhood Group Worker as part of the Children and Family Wellbeing Service offers a rewarding vocation, working with children, young people, and their families. We work with children and young people aged 0-19 years, up to 25 years for young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with children and young people and their families, delivering our curriculum offer of quality groups and courses in Family Hubs, or in district community venues and schools.
  • Deliver groups and courses to help support children, young people, and their families to grow, learn and develop.
  • Include antenatal support and advice, newborn groups and activities and preschool sessions for 0–5-year-olds; for 5–11-year-olds provide groups that support emotional health and wellbeing, healthy lifestyles and school transitions, including dedicated groups for children with Special Educational Needs and Early Years speech, language and communication needs.
  • Record attendance at sessions, contribute to planning and evaluating groups and courses, and create interesting and informative handouts and public display boards.
  • Receive training and shadowing during induction.
  • Work within the wider Children and Family Wellbeing Service to ensure children, young people, and their families get the right support, in the right place, at the right time.
  • Liaise with colleagues, schools and multi-agency partners delivering multi-agency support within the district and the Family Hubs network.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Creative individuals with experience of working with children, young people, and their families.
  • Willingness to undertake further training, learning and development opportunities.
  • Good level of IT skills and ability to use our Management Information System; ability to record attendance and contribute to planning and evaluating groups and courses.
  • Ability to liaise with colleagues, schools and multi-agency partners.

  • Our Neighbourhood Group Workers receive training and shadowing opportunities.
  • The role is part-time; the salary quoted is the full-time equivalent and will be paid pro-rata.
  • The post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013).
