Overview

Do you want to make a difference to the lives of people who have a disability? We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated, flexible people who would enjoy supporting adults with disabilities to live the lives they want. This postholder will work in community settings or the person's home to teach people with disabilities basic daily living skills, e.g., shopping, food preparation, cooking or to travel independently, allowing people to live more independently.

You will be required to work flexibly, and you will work in a team responsible for activity predominately in Lancaster and Morecambe areas of Lancashire but must be flexible as there may be a requirement to cover other areas of the county to meet business demands. Business mileage is paid from workplace which is Whitecross, Lancaster.

Responsibilities

You will require good communication skills and be able to plan and work to targets and timescales following an enablement plan. The post holder will mainly work office hours, between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday but there may be occasional times when they will be expected to work outside of these hours and at weekends.

Legal and Other Requirements

The post you are applying for is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013). If successful, you will be required to apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for a 'disclosure'. Further information can be found on the 'Our Recruitment Process' tab. The post holder will be required to provide a car for use in connection with the duties of this post and must be insured for business use. However, we may consider you if you cannot drive because of a disability.
