The governors of this very successful Catholic comprehensive school are looking to appoint a teaching assistant to support pupils experiencing various learning difficulties in the classroom. The role will be primarily based within The Ark, our specialist SEMH intervention provision, which supports pupils to build confidence, resilience and readiness for reintegration into lessons. While initially situated in The Ark, the postholder may also be deployed to a mainstream classroom teaching assistant role should the needs of the school require.
Hours: 30 hours per week, term time only, plus one week.
Closing date: 9am on Monday 22nd June 2026.
Interview date: Wednesday 1st July 2026 (TBC).
Responsibilities:
- Support pupils with learning difficulties in classroom settings.
- Assist with SEMH interventions in The Ark.
- Deploy to mainstream classroom as required.
- Contribute to pupils’ confidence, resilience and readiness for reintegration.
Essential Qualifications:
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above) or Level 2 equivalent.
Desirable Qualifications:
- TA specific qualification equivalent to NVQ Level 2 or 3.
Essential Experience:
- Experience of working with children/young people.
- Experience of relevant age group.
- Experience of working with children with special needs.
- A standard of written and spoken English that supports pupils’ learning.
Desirable Experience:
- Recent experience of working in a school.
