We are currently recruiting Kind and compassionate Social Workers to work within the Urgent Care and Short Term Support at Lancashire County Council. This is a wonderful chance to make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable individuals within the community who require much needed care and support. We seek to promote independence and well-being at every opportunity, giving our service users the strength and courage to lead normal and healthy lives once again.

As a Social Worker experienced in working in Intermediate Care settings and hospitals, you will be reaching out to those in crisis or who are acutely unwell within the community and the hospital itself. The office is based in Morecambe; however, there is an expectation for you to travel to different locations to provide assessments therefore a driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential. As this is a 7-day service (including bank holidays), there will be a requirement for you to work up to one in four weekends, we offer pay enhancements for weekend working.

What we are looking for…

  • Passion: You’ll be passionate about your work and maintaining people's independence, making that valuable difference to the lives you touch. We want you to be a strong advocate, ensuring the right services respond in every circumstance by providing accurate care assessments. With your empathetic nature and approachability, you will be forming strong working relationships, achieving trust and a solid rapport. You will also be passionate about your role and promote our intermediate care services to raise awareness of what can be achieved with our intervention.
  • Challenge: The world of social care is never without its challenges and this environment is no different with the variety of work we have on offer. There is always a fluctuation in demand so we need a professional who is self-motivated and can take a proactive approach to ever-changing priorities. From offering advice to NHS colleagues and non-social work professions to dealing with bed-based requests, you will be supporting with an amalgamation of varying responsibilities. It is imperative that our service users remain at the heart of everything you do and that we always endeavour to achieve the best possible outcomes for them.
  • Values driven: We want your values to mirror our own and treat all individuals with respect and compassion in the challenging times they are facing. You will be working within a supportive multi-disciplinary team who looks out for each other and collaborates as one unit; we work on the basis that there is no problem we can’t resolve together. This role is extremely rewarding when you can see the impact that your support has had as our service users continue on their journey back to good mental and physical health.

If you want to enhance your career as a Social Worker, then this is the place to be with multiple opportunities for promotion, growth and development.

Why join us…

  • Benefits: A plethora of discounts & benefits from our Vivup partners, support groups, public service pensions, cycle to work schemes and eye tests plus many more.
  • Development: You will get support and development along the journey – there will be time for supportive reflection and supervision for yourself, opportunities for personal growth and development, multidisciplinary initiatives, mentoring, the opportunity to make a difference, feel valued and achieve the job satisfaction you have always wanted.
  • Inclusivity: We do not have a 'one size fits all' idealism, we embrace diversity and that includes around personal and family requirements so appreciate that you will want to be working from home when you can, your hours may vary or change and for us – delivering successful outcomes is more important than watching the clock.
