We are seeking a passionate Support Practitioner with experience in emotional-based non-attendance to join our SEND team, commencing September 2026. The successful candidate will provide support to pupils for whom attending school presents a challenge, working closely with the Attendance Officer and the wider pastoral and safeguarding team, whilst contributing to the ethos of pastoral care at LRGS.
This role is 30 hours per week, term time only. Core hours will be between 8.30 am and 3.30 pm. The salary for this role is based on Support staff grade 6: £28,142‑£32,062 FTE (pay award pending). Actual salary based on hours and term‑time contract is £19,293‑£22,584 per annum.
Essential Qualifications- Qualification or training related to pastoral care or youth work
- Experience of working in a school environment
- Knowledge of learning support strategies and provision
- Knowledge of emotionally based school avoidance strategies
- Knowledge of trauma‑informed practice
- Pastoral knowledge and experience
- Excellent skills in communicating with children, including those in distress
- Experience in recording or acting on concerns and safeguarding disclosures
- Experience supporting children through phases of education
